AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A fatal tractor-trailer crash has been reported on Interstate 20 eastbound at Exit 11.
Officials say a 2020 International tractor-trailer was traveling east on I-20 when the tractor-trailer ran off the right side of the interstate and hit the Bettis Academy Road over near Exit 11.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Ronald Brand, 60-years-old of Timmonsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be autopsied in Newberry.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident.
The area has been the scene of two other serious crashes in two days:
- On Monday night, a nine-vehicle accident led to a traffic backup on both sides of the interstate at this same exit.
- And on Tuesday night, a pedestrian died after being struck in a hit-an-run on Bettis Academy Road.
