AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta’s latest deadly shooting left one person dead and one wounded, according to Richmond County deputies.

Dispatchers said they got a report at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday of gunfire at the Benson Estates Apartments in the 300 block of Williamsburg Road.

Deputies responded to the call and upon arrival found two victims with gunshots.

One victim was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m. He was identified as Joshua Hadnot, 30, of Memphis, Tenn.

The other victim was taken to a hospital, authorities said. The injury was not considered life-threatening, according to deputies.

Investigators said they were able to link Jeremiah Long, 26, of Hephzibah, to the shooting through witnesses. Deputies said Long was taken into custody and was charged with murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

It was Augusta’s second deadly shooting in two days.

A shooting Monday at the Johnson Beauty and Barber Salon in the 700 block of Eve Street left two people dead, a community in mourning and authorities searching for clues.

Investigators knocked on doors Tuesday morning searching for answers about the shooting that claimed the lives of Wyman Scott and Meguel Freeman.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has not confirmed whether the shooting was targeted or a random crime. But deputies say the shop was not a problem place of business.
