Robbery, suspect hunt draw SWAT team to Augusta apartments

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We now know why there was a large law enforcement presence Monday morning at an Augusta apartment complex.
At 4:20 a.m., Richmond County deputies responded to Icon Waverly Apartments, 3190 Skinner Mill Road, to investigate a report of a robbery of an individual.
Upon their arrival, deputies made with the victim who reported that she was robbed at gunpoint by several individuals.
Deputies were able to identify an apartment in the complex where the suspects were located.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to the scene and eventually several suspects were found in an apartment and taken into custody.
The suspects were transported to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division, where the investigation is ongoing.
The apartments are just south of Interstate 20 about halfway between I-520 and Washington Road.
