Belvedere blaze spreads from home to cars, other structures
BELVEDERE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Crews battled fires Friday morning at two homes in Belvedere.
According to our News 12 crew on the scene, two homes caught fire near the 3300 block of Chariot Court around 10:25 a.m.
Fire officials say the fire started in one home and spread to nearby structures behind it. Some cars also caught on fire near the home. The lining of one home was completely melted from the flames.
The owner of the home said he lives alone, and no one was injured.
The North Augusta Department of Public Safety, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and the Belvedere Fire Department responded to the scene. An electrical company also arrived on the scene.
Clouds of black smoke from the fires could also be seen from nearby SRP Park.






An accident involving a first responder also happened near the scene of the fire. It happened on Edgefield Road and Clearmont Drive. There were no injuries reported in the accident. Our News 12 crew on the scene says the car was for a Belvedere first responder. We’re told South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
