Shooting in Aiken County sends 1 person to hospital

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday evening.

Deputies say the shooting was reported around 7:22 p.m. in the 100 block of A P Nivens Street.

There was one victim that was shot in the leg, according to Capt. Eric Abdullah with the sheriff’s office.

The victim was transported to the hospital for their injuries.

The incident comes during an outbreak in violent crime – especially shootings – that’s been sweeping both sides of the Savannah River in the CSRA since about mid-April.

There have been more than two dozen fatal shootings, homicides and suspicious deaths in the CSRA since April 14.
