Two dead, one injured in weekend crashes across CSRA

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two people died and one person landed in the hospital in the most recent group of car crashes in our local counties.
In the most recent crash, South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person died in an accident just outside of Santee, South Carolina.
The accident happened on SC 6 and Resort Street in Orangeburg County. Troopers say around 4:16 p.m., a 2006 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on SC 6 and traveled off the left side of the road, and overturned. The driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
We have reached out to the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office for information on the driver, but we’ll continue to follow this as it develops.
In Aiken County, one person was taken to the hospital after a head-on collision on Friday. The accident happened on Augusta Road and Cemetery Road just after 10 p.m.
Deputies say the accident occurred between a motorcycle and another vehicle. A least one person was confirmed to be taken to the hospital.
Also on Friday, Columbia County deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 westbound near mile marker 175, at Cobbham Road.
According to dispatch, the call came in at 6:43 p.m. on Friday.
The coroner says the driver of one of the vehicles involved died as a result of that crash. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Cheresa Calhoun.
Deputies said there were no other injuries.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia County Fire Department and Gold Cross also responded to the screen. Lanes were closed for several hours, following the crash.
