AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The family of a 4-year-old drowning victim marched to the office of District Attorney Jared Williams on Tuesday, calling for justice.

Their message, ‘Justice for Izzy.’

Marching while mourning, the family of Scott is pleading for answers and ability for their loved one.

Izzy Scott’s family marched to call for the DA to press charges in the death of the boy, who drowned last month on his second day of swimming lessons in Burke County.

“We signed our child up with the understanding that this instructor had the experience, the knowledge, and know-how to take care of business as she should,” said Walter Scott, Izzy’s father.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office decided not to press charges, but the ultimate decision is up to Williams.

We asked the district attorney if he had any response to Tuesday’s march, and where he stands in his investigations. We did not hear back on either of those questions.

Meggan Fedrick is a family member, she said: “Unfortunately, the citizen of the year has caused the death of a 4-year-old baby.”

Scott’s family is heartbroken and hurting not only about his death, but that no one is being held able.

“We wanna talk about negligence and the day he ed away. This started long before. I guarantee you had we known about the events on the first day prior to, Israel would have not been in that class the second day, and he would very well still be here,” she said.

People from all over the CSRA and even Atlanta came to and rally for justice for Izzy.

One person said: “So sometimes you just have to stick and stay.”

Another one said: “So that people can be able and responsible when these kinds of things happen. A child shouldn’t die so tragically, and then the person responsible not only not take responsibility but walk off scot-free.”

Not only is the family calling for justice, but also laws to prevent this from happening to someone else.

Fedrick said: “We’re not going to get a justice call, and then everything stops. There are children still at risk, and there can be other kids’ lives that are at risk. Our plan is not to stop no matter what the DA’s decision is.”

The family says they will continue to pray and will not stop until justice is served.
