AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two people have been arrested in connection to “shots fired” at Lucy C. Laney Football Stadium on Friday.

Roosevelt Demmons, 17, from Thomson Georgia, and Santana Mance, 17, from Dearing Georgia were arrested by BOE officers in connection to the case.

Both were charged with Possession of a firearm or knife during a crime, damage to property, aggravated assault, and weapons in the school building, grounds, or function in connection to the case, and a misdemeanor charge relating to possession of a firearm by a person under 18 years old.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to the scene to assist the Richmond County BOE Safety Officers after a fight on the visitor’s side, spilled over into the parking lot.

Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said shots were reportedly fired near the gymnasium.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, said a blue Volvo and a white Audi were damaged by gunfire.

When investigating, the RSCO said they recovered three firearms and found multiple bullets in the area.

Dispatch told News 12 on Friday, that call came in around 9:06 PM.

According to RCSS Chief Public Relations Officer Lynthia Ross, “Richmond County School System School Safety and Security Officers were alerted to questionable activity happening after a group of patrons exited the stadium. School Safety and Security Officers were en route to respond when they heard shots fired. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and additional School Safety and Security officers responded to safe evacuation of the stadium and parking lots. The incident is not believed to involve Richmond County School System students and is under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.”

Thomson was leading 15-14.

The Richmond County coroner happened to be across the street from the stadium for two apparently unrelated deaths. Coroner Mark Bowen said it was too early for specifics to be released.
