GIRARD, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a $10,000 reward for suspects in a shooting that killed one person and injured several at an illegal bar in Burke County.

The shooting happened early July 30 at 232 Claxton Road, and address that authorities had visited due to multiple incidents in the past.

Upon arrival, deputies found five people had suffered from gunshot wounds. All victims were taken to area hospitals to be treated.

Shortly after being taken to the hospital, one of the victims, 34-year-old Dereck Hilton, of Sardis, succumbed to his injuries.

Deputies identified Jawuandre Dimera Kelly, 22, and Jordan James Perkins, 20, as suspects.

Perkins was arrested Wednesday night after a nearly six hour standoff with the North Augusta Public Safety SWAT team, SLED SWAT team, and the U.S. Marshal’s Office.

Kelly was arrested Friday night in Dekalb County.

The shooting is part of an outbreak of deadly crime that’s been sweeping the CSRA since spring, claiming more than 60 lives. The crime wave has affected communities large and small on both sides of the Savannah River.

Authorities have blamed much of the problem on gangs, and many of the victims have been teenagers or men in their 20s.
