AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - You can get in the holiday spirit at the Augusta Christmas parade this weekend to help families of critically ill and injured children.

The 2022 parade’s proceeds and donations go directly to help families in need at the Ronald McDonald House in Augusta. The donations will help the families stay in the house during the holiday season while household are being treated.

Everyone is invited to the parade at 6 p.m. Saturday on Broad Street from 13th Street to Seventh Street.

This year’s parade will have more than 80 entries from businesses, civic groups, bands and others. Santa Claus will be riding down Broad Street in the parade.

Ronald McDonald House Augusta is currently housing 19 families. Families have stayed from 11 days to over a year. The patients go to Augusta’s Children Hospital and the family is provided three meals a day and lodging for as long as the patient is receiving treatment.

“This partnership with the parade is incredible,” said Freda Baker, president of Ronald McDonald House Augusta. “It helps the families by celebrating the holidays. What kid doesn’t love a parade?”

Baker said all donations are needed and appreciated.
