15-year-old killed in Augusta shooting on Old McDuffie Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 15-year-old has died after a shooting on Old McDuffie Road on Thursday night.

The Richmond County Coroner Office has identified 15-year-old Zaire Person as the victim.

Person was shot at least one time on the 3400 block of Old Mcduffie Road.

Authorities say Person was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.

An autopsy for Person has been scheduled.

During the investigation, investigators learned that there was a large Splat Party involving juveniles that took place at several locations in the Augusta area and ended on Old McDuffie Road, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

Meanwhile the Richmond County Coroner’s Office is also investigating the Thursday afternoon shooting death of a 24-year-old.

The two shooting is among dozens that have swept the CSRA in the past year, claiming more than 80 lives since mid-April.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the assistance from anyone in the community that has any information related to this incident.
