Aiken County jail breaks ground for expansion project

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office officially broke ground for the expansion project at the Aiken County Detention Center.
The expansion project is adding four inmate housing. This is around 150 beds.
The ceremony was Friday at 10 a.m. on Wire Road.
The sheriff’s office says the project was designed by Moseley Architects with RD Brown serving as the general contractor.
The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2025.
