Aiken police learn reported kidnapping did not happen

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Aiken Department of Public Safety discovered that the previously reported kidnapping was someone experiencing a medical emergency.

Investigators say a crime did not occur and the person was being helped by a family member.

This information has been confirmed by the Aiken Department of Public Safety and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

We previously reported Aiken police were asking for the public’s help in identifying a pair of possible kidnapping suspects.

It was reported that a woman was forced from the parking lot into a white sport utility vehicle in the Kalmia Plaza shopping center.
