Attempted murder, armed robbery suspect arrested in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect has been accused of attempted murder after an armed robbery attempt, according to jail records.
Jail records show the suspect, Quarmaine Jones, 31, was arrested on Thursday at the location of Days Inn located on Columbia Highway North.
Authorities say Jones approached the victim and asked if he had a phone charger, while he was walking back to his room.
As the victim then walked into his room to look for a charger, Jones forced the door open and closed the door behind him, pulling out a knife, authorities say.
The victim stated Jones began to swing the knife at him, then grabbed a BB pistol-style gun, pointed it at him then ran out the door, according to authorities.
Deputies say as they were talking to the complainant, Jones approached; deputies asked him what was going on. Jones responded that he “didn’t pull a knife on the kid.”
Deputies asked if he had any weapons on him, Jones reached into his left front pocket and pulled out a black in color foldable knife, and handed it over.
Deputies asked Jones to turn around, he replied asking if they had a warrant. Deputies advised Jones they didn’t need a warrant, at which he took off running around the building.
Jones jumped over a fence behind the Waffle House and started running up on the ramp to I-20, when he was taken into custody, according to authorities.
Jones has been charged with two counts of assault - attempted murder, burglary in the first degree, and weapons during a violent crime.
