Suspect in custody after 2 shootings in Swainsboro

SWAINSBORO, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A man is in custody in connection to two separate shootings that happened in Swainsboro late on September 2.

Emanuel County Sheriff, Jeffrey Brewer, says shortly after 10 p.m., the agency received a call about a person shot on Harrison Drive in Swainsboro.

When they arrived, the sheriff says they found 33-year-old Fredrick Anthony with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Augusta University Hospital’s Trauma Center.

Within the hour, a second call was received about a home invasion with shots fired on Glenwood Road in Swainsboro, according to Sheriff Brewer.

When deputies arrived, the suspect had already left and there were no injuries.

Investigators say the suspect in both cases is 36-year-old Johnnie Lee Dixon Junior who is wanted for Aggravated Assault.

According to Sheriff Brewer, the GBI-Eastman Office, the Swainsboro Police Department, and the Burke County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team were also involved in ing the Emmanuel County Sheriff’s Office during this incident.

The Emmanuel County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page says at 10:30 a.m. the next morning on September 3, Dixon was presented to the Emanuel Co Detention Center and was taken into custody.

They say Dixon had a gunshot wound to the right chest he suffered sometime during the night, but investigators are still working to figure out when and where Dixon was when he received this wound.

Law Enforcement claims to have never fired a weapon at any time, and Dixon was transported to an Augusta trauma center.
