Augusta man arrested in connection with 2 S.C. shootings

GRESHAM, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Augusta man been arrested in connection to two Marion County shootings that killed two people and injured one last month.

24-year-old Zacarie Isayah Johnson, of Augusta, has been charged in the two September shootings in the Gresham community of Marion County, according to officials.

Johnson’s charges are connected to the death investigation after two men were found dead in a car on Bennett Loop on Sept. 19 and another shooting the same evening on Buck Trail Road that left one person injured, according to officials.

Johnson was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in Georgia on October 10. He was returned to Marion County on Monday where he was served with eight warrants and booked into the Marion County Detention Center.

Johnson is charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of carjacking, two counts of kidnapping, one count of armed robbery, and one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the State Law Enforcement Division, United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
