NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A North Augusta mom and daughter have published a children’s book to help instill valuable lessons into their readers.

During COVID, most people picked up an extra hobby or two.

Now, Nancy Scott and her daughter, Anne Danielson, are seeing their ion project come to life with their first children’s book, “The Sharing Sheep”.

They always knew they wanted to write a book.

“Our family, we have a history of storytelling. We’ve always been storytellers and enjoyed that,” said Scott.

After having kids of her own, Danielson got with her mom about how they could weave essential values into their storytelling.

During the COVID lockdown, they got to work.

“One of the greatest inspirations was that my mother-in-law gifted a sheep to my daughter two weeks before she was born. My eldest daughter loved that sheep and did not want to share it,” she said.

It’s where they got the idea for “The Sharing Sheep”, their book about a group of animals who have no idea how they’ll solve the problems they’re facing.

“These are animals that always just thought of themselves, not really accustomed to thinking of others. Over time, they realize if these animals collaborate and start sharing, they can possibly solve their problems,” said Scott.

They hope to write multiple books like “The Sharing Sheep”, installing valuable lessons for young readers.

“Our next book is going to be the Bengal Brigade, and we’re going to kind of keep it going and just have wholesome messages that we’d love to get into, like preschools in the area and elementary schools, kindergarten,” said Danielson.

They’re one book down, with many more to go.

The two worked with Austin Macauley to illustrate and publish the book. If you’d like to purchase “The Sharing Sheep”, it’s available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
