One-Tank Trip: Ga. gas station has unique backyard
METTER, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Imagine pulling off the highway for gas, and behind the gas station, you notice dozens of exotic animals.
At first glance, Exit 98 off Interstate 16 looks like just another typical exit. You pull off the highway and see a couple of gas stations, but one gas station stands out.
Behind the Chevron is Wild Georgia Safari Park. It’s home to all kinds of exotic animals like zebras, camels and a kangaroo.
Before these exotic animals got here, and before they built the gas station, this was just another Georgia farm.

“It was just a working farm with goats and cows, then my dad and uncle built the store on the farm, and then the petting zoo came along,” said owner Jake Mosley. “The animals were already here, people just wanted to see them and pet them and feed them.”
Seven years ago, Mosley decided to take the petting zoo to another level, and he started bringing in exotic animals.
Now, travelers stopping there to just fill up are in for a surprise.
