AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 22-year-old has been identified as the victim of a shooting at Club Rain, 1855 Gordon Highway, on Saturday morning, according to authorities.

Richmond County investigators say deputies responded to Wellstar MCG Health around 2:21 a.m. in reference to a gunshot wound victim.

Deputies say when they arrived they learned that 22-year-old Chrishawn Martin of the 1800 block of Cooney Circle in Augusta had been shot at least once and died from his injuries.

They say they learned the shooting happened at the club.

The Richmond County Coroner and Richmond County Sheriff’s Office are both investigating.

Although the sign at the business labels it Club Rain, it’s d as a “party rental” venue rather than as a club. The business license is under the name Club Climax.

The slaying is the latest in an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 100 lives since April 2022. Communities large and small on both sides of the Savannah River have been affected, but Augusta has been hit especially hard.
