Details emerge on gunfire involving Augusta suspect, deputy
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We’re learning more about gunfire from a suspect and a Richmond County deputy over the weekend.
No one was injured, and the man was later arrested.
The drama unfolded when deputies were called just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a domestic disturbance and gunshots in the 2400 block of Damascus Road.

When they got there, deputies say they saw Quandre Davon Davis, 31, holding a gun and shouting that they would have to shoot him.
Deputies said he fired in an unknown direction and ran.
Deputies caught up with him at Kelly Street and Hillsinger Road and told him to drop the gun, they said.
Davis fled around the back of a white pickup, raised his arms and pointed an unknown object in a gesture implying he was going to shoot at deputies, authorities said.
Deputy Diana Santiago then fired at Davis, who wasn’t hit, according to authorities.
Davis was found moments later and taken into custody.
He was held in jail on charges of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault upon a police officer, possession of a firearm or knife during a crime and possession of a firearm or knife by a convicted felon.
The victim in the domestic disturbance told deputies what led up to the incident.
She said Davis had been drinking and was upset that she wouldn’t let him drive her car, so he threatened to kill himself.
She said he got her revolver from the center console of the car and fired two rounds in an unknown direction, got out, turned back and fired two rounds at her, with the slugs hitting the car.
When he saw deputies arrive, he tried to shoot himself in the head but the gun didn’t fire, the victim said. That’s when he told deputies, “You’re going to have to kill me,” fired another round and took off, she said.

Santiago has been with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for three years and is on istrative leave, which is standard when a deputy fires a gun.
State records show she started out as a jailer on May 16, 2020, and was promoted to peace officer on Dec. 10 of that year.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division will investigate the case because no injuries were reported.
