Early voting continues for S.C. primary, Ga. legislative race
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Advance in-person voting continues in the South Carolina Democratic presidential primary as well as the special election to fill the Georgia House seat vacated by Barry Fleming.
In Columbia County
Early voting in Columbia County is in the second week now. Last weekend was the first weekend of the early voting schedule.
It was at the former Euchee Creek library.
This special election is for the Georgia house seat, vacated by Barry Fleming.
He was appointed as a superior court judge by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.
Columbia County Board of Elections Director, Nancy Gay, said through the first five days 195 voters showed up before Saturday.
She spoke about the challenge of having five candidates on the ballot.
“Anytime you have more than two candidates on a ballot there’s always that option, but five on the ballot... what makes it interesting is that the runoff will be at the same time as the March 12th presidential preference primary which will be interesting since we will have dual elections going on at the same time.”
Before we look at a possible runoff, advance voting continues through Feb. 9.
