AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A suspect is in custody after an attempted robbery at the Bank of America on Peach Orchard Road, according to deputies.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2800 block of Peach Orchard Road on Tuesday at 3:07 p.m.

Deputies learned no one was hurt, and the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle believed to be a 2017 Honda HR-V.

On Wednesday, around 11:40 a.m., the sheriff’s office canceled the alert for the suspect.

Upon arrival, deputies made with two employees of the bank. One victim told deputies that an unknown Black male wearing a cargo jacket and black pants was in line behind a male witness and pushed him aside to get in front of him, the report states.

The suspect then allegedly demanded the banker to give him $600, according to the report.

According to the report, she stated the suspect had his hand in his pocket pointed toward them and said, “Shut up, b-----, give me the money before I shoot you in the face.”

The security guard observed the situation and told deputies he aggressively walked the suspect out of the bank. The man didn’t receive any money, according to the report.
