Book drive held in honor of 17-year-old girl
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Thursday is the last day for you to donate to the “Books for Shay” book drive.
A mother and father are allowing their daughter’s legacy to live on this book drive.
Shaylin Foster was 17 years old when she died, and this is how her family is continuing to her.
Foster’s family tells us she lived by the message “small acts of kindness will change the world”, and that’s exactly what the book drive is doing.
“She just had a ion for books. She would get a book, a new book, and just disappear for a while and read through an entire novel for a day without stopping. She was a veracious reader. books were always on her Christmas list,” said her parents.
You can donate to this cause by dropping off new or gently used books to participating schools and other drop-off sites.
The goal is to donate a total of 4,000 to the Literacy is Health Event at the HUB by February 29.
