21-year-old suspect charged in slaying of Demon Parrish

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office announced on Thursday morning that Caleb White — a man arrested in connection to death of Demon Parrish will be charged with murder, according to authorities.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of North Augusta Public Safety and US Marshal’s Task Force located Caleb Jamar White on the 1300 block of Plaza Place, North Augusta on Tuesday at 6:24 p.m.

After a brief standoff, White was taken into custody and transported to the Aiken County Detention Center.

White will be transferred to the CBWDC at a later date to be booked and charged with murder and theft by receiving stolen property, according to authorities.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety says he is a murder suspect in Richmond County, where he’s also wanted for questioning with the Demon Parrish case. The U.S. Marshal’s office says they were there to assist Richmond County with a murder warrant.

The case goes back to Jan. 8 when Demon Parrish was last seen in Augusta. He was reported missing on Jan. 10.

Two days later, family and friends searched the area he was last seen.

Candles lit up the sky on Jan. 15 when the community came together to pray for a safe return.

On Jan. 19, White was wanted for questioning regarding Parrish’s disappearance.

Almost a month later on Feb. 17, the missing person’s case turned into a death investigation when Parrish’s body is found on Silver Bluff Road in Aiken County. White was still wanted for questioning.

On Feb. 21, Parrish’s death was ruled a homicide after the Aiken County Coroner’s Office says he died from a gunshot wound.

Authorities continued the search until Tuesday night.

“Stop right there,” was shouted on the scene as White surrendered to authorities.

White was arrested and was taken into custody to the Aiken County Detention Center.

Richmond County canceled their search Wednesday morning saying, “He was located in South Carolina and now in custody.”

North Augusta says he will be extradited back to Richmond County.

Parrish’s funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Truth Church of Augusta.
