17-year-old killed in Richmond County car crash
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 17-year-old died in a traffic accident early Thursday in Augusta when a car slammed into a tree while traveling at a high speed.
Jermaine Omar Odom, of the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road, was pronounced dead on the scene at 6:17 a.m., according to Coroner Mark Bowen.
Authorities say they got a report of the accident at 5:29 a.m. on the 1200 block of Twiggs Street at Laney Walker Boulevard.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen confirmed he is investigating the fatal crash.
Officials say the vehicle was traveling west at a high speed and left the road, striking a tree.
A enger was taken to Wellstar MCG Hospital by emergency medical crews.
