Over 200 runners hit the track for 4th annual Run for Ryan
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - More than 200 kids and adults laced up and hit the track for the 4th annual Run for Ryan 5k Saturday morning.
The annual run is to help raise money for the Ryan Clark Scholarship and Community Service award.
Run clubs from Parkway, Blue Ridge and South Columbia elementary schools participated at Lakeside High School where Clark graduated.
Other organizations teamed up as well.
Ryan lost his life during the Virginia Tech massacre while trying to save a fellow student.
We spoke with one woman who says it was important for her to follow in his foot steps, paying it forward to those in need - like he once did.
“I’m just excited about being out here. I am an educator and I believe to giving back to the community. I also believe in funding for young people. This scholarship provides funds for young people to start college and many other things because we know college is expensive,” Teresa Jones, participant says.
If you couldn’t make it to the 5k but would still like to donate to the 2024 scholarship and community service award, head to the website.
