Teen died in crash involving stolen car, deputies say
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A 17-year-old was driving a stolen car when he died in a crash last week, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The car slammed into a tree Thursday in the 1200 block of Twiggs Street at Laney Walker Boulevard.
Jermaine Omar Odom, of the 500 block of Richmond Hill Road, was pronounced dead on the scene of the 5:29 a.m. crash.

Attorneys for the accused killer of nursing student Laken Riley have filed a motion demanding a jury trial, according to court documents.

According to the accident report, the crash happened on a curve as the car was traveling south on Twiggs.
The car left its lane, traveling through the northbound lanes, onto a grass shoulder and into a tree on the east side of the roadway, according to deputies.
The car spun counterclockwise, coming to rest facing west partially in the right northbound lane of Twiggs.
The driver was found at fault for driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain lane, according to deputies.
A enger was taken to Wellstar MCG Hospital by emergency medical crews.
Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen is investigating the fatal crash.
The accident report said the car had been reported stolen, and also made references to a report of a recovered stolen vehicle and a report of a car being entered near the same location on the same date,
