‘A wonderful time’: CSRA groups come together for line dancing classes
MARTINEZ, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta Soul Sliders, a group of line dancers, and Columbia County’s Experience Club have come together to line dance.
Edward Johnson, a coach with the Augusta Soul Sliders, brought in his speaker.
“I’ve been dancing all my life, so I love it,” he said.
Now, he’s sharing that love with Columbia County’s Experience Club.
Columbia County’s Experience Club is a group for people aged 50 and older.
“They have all these activities that I would’ve never done if I hadn’t belonged to this club,” said Christy Fleming, an Experience Club member.
Fleming loves trying new things with the club. For many , line dancing is new.
The Augusta Soul Sliders are here to help.
“A lot of classes you go to, people will show you dance and expect you to know it, we don’t do that, we are repetitions, we’ll go over it, go over it. We’ll pull you to the side, and give you one-on-one coaching to make sure you understand. When you leave that day, you’re going to understand how to do that dance,” said Johnson.
Even if they’re all not on Johnson’s level, you could see they were having a good time.
“It looks like a lot of people are enjoying themselves. They’re having fun, they’re picking it up easy, some people are picking it up easier than others,” said Johnson.
Fleming said: “I love to dance, so this was just great, this was a great time, I had a wonderful time doing it.”
If you’re interested in ing either group, they’re both open to new .
