Formerly missing homeless teen accused of assaults, robberies

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A former missing, homeless 17-year-old has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault and armed robbery after being arrested last week in Augusta, according to authorities.
The robbery happened on March 12 at the Sprint convenience store, 3444 Mike Padgett Highway, according to deputies. The convenience store is across the street from the south Augusta sheriff’s station.
It happened sometime before 9 a.m., when authorities released a photo of a person wanted for questioning.

By 5 p.m., authorities said they had located the person, identified as Dustin Wayne Smith, 17, and booked him in Richmond County jail.
According to authorities, Smith, identified as homeless person who was a missing out of Edgefield County.
Smith is charged with four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a crime, according to jail records.
