AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - A manslaughter suspect who was arrested in 2023 has died in custody, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

As part of procedure, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has called in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the coroner’s office to investigate the inmate’s death.

Wednesday around 5:22 a.m., Aiken County Emergency Medical Services were called to the detention center for an inmate reported to be in a medical crisis, according to the coroner’s office.

Tony Muldrow, 34, of Florence, was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers, where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 a.m.

The coroner’s office says Muldrow will be autopsied Monday morning in Newberry to determine his cause of death.

The sheriff’s office says Muldrow’s death does not appear to be suspicious.

In December, News 12 reported Muldrow’s arrest in connection to a deadly Christmas Eve shooting on Squire Street.
