STEMfest brings students to Cyber Center in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - STEMfest returned to the Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center on Wednesday.
Dozens of middle schoolers from schools across Richmond, Columbia, Glascock and Aiken counties learned about all things STEM.
To switch it up this year, organizers had the students split into different groups for different activities like escape rooms, capture the flag, a hands-on makers space and more.
The goal every year is to expose the new generation about the future and careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
“To start young, to start at middle school, and get them excited about cyber security. Get them excited about I.T. because there are so many jobs out there,” said Todd Gay, Director of Outreach and Engagement Todd Gay.
Students meet with the Augusta University gaming team to learn how they can turn every ion into high-earning jobs.
