62-year-old killed in Augusta home fire on Crested Butte Road
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Coroner’s Office is investigating the home fire death of a 62-year-old that occurred on Sunday night in Augusta, according to authorities.
Authorities say the fire happened Sunday evening on the 4600 block of Crested Butte Road.
Upon their arrival, they saw visible flames and smoke, officials say.
A search of the home revealed one person inside, who was quickly removed by firefighters. The fire was brought under control, according to authorities.
The victim was transported to Doctors Hospital by EMS where was pronounced Antonio Bernard Jones, 62, dead at 6:49 p.m., according to the coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled.
Authorities say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
