AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta’s planning commission has approved a zoning request to move forward on a new tiny home community in Richmond County.

On Tuesday, Augusta’s planning commission voted to push the new development, looking to settle at 1140 Merry Street, forward to the full commission on April 16.

Designed by Bridge Builder Community, ‘Village Green’ is being proposed as a tiny home community for young adults 18-25 leaving foster homes. The developers say it would come with parking, a recreation area and even a resident advisor to help manage those living in the homes.

They also say the inspiration is modeled from an active tiny home community in Oklahoma called ‘Pivot’.

Within a 3.08 acre space, phase one would start with 10 homes, but eventually build up to 25 homes. Each home would be around 320 square feet and only one person would be allowed to live within each space.
