Violence leaves mark on Augusta with 3 shootings in 24 hours
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - In less than 24 hours, Augusta has been three shootings, leaving one person dead and another injured.
On Lovers Lane...
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting on Lovers Lane near a school bus stop that left no one injured on Tuesday, according to authorities.
The shooting was reported at 7:50 a.m. at Lovers Lane and Sapelo Circle.
Upon arrival, deputies say they learned a male was observed shooting in the area of the bus stop, where several children were waiting on a school bus.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office said investigators were able to find and charge Katravion Roberson, 17, with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Roberson was booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
On Bolt Drive...
Less than 12 hours before the shooting on Lovers Lane, Richmond County deputies responded to a call just before midnight on Bolt Drive, with one person shot.
When they got there, the Richmond County Coroner’s Office confirmed 19-year-old Makel Jones was shot at least once.
He died at the hospital.
The shooting was reported at 11:40 p.m. on Monday.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Jones, the coroner says.
The case is actively being investigated and no further information is available at this time.
At Diamond Lakes Park...
One person was injured Monday at Diamond Lakes Park in a shooting.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at 2:21 p.m.
Upon arrival, deputies located a subject who had been struck at least one time, deputies say.

According to officials, the victim was taken to a local hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
No arrest have been made for Monday’s shootings.
The park was temporarily closed but reopened Tuesday morning.
The incidents are part of an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 150 lives in two years across the CSRA. Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River.
Authorities have blamed much of the problem on gangs, and many of the victims as well as suspects have been young men.
