Suspect wanted, another for questioning in Augusta slaying
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Deputies are looking for two subjects — one wanted on a murder charge, another for questioning only after a deadly shooting near Dogwood Terrace.
Dominique Beal, 27, is currently wanted for murder regarding a homicide incident on Monday on the 2000 block of Bolt Drive.
Officials say Beal is known to be in the area of the Spiderweb neighborhood in Beech Island, S.C., and the Dogwood Terrace Subdivision in Augusta.
Beal currently has active warrants for murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, the sheriff’s office says.
Beal is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds.
Denzel Shaw, 27, is wanted for questioning only regarding the shooting. Shaw is also known to be in the same areas as Beal.
Officials say Shaw has multiple outstanding warrants through the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals for unrelated incidents.
Shaw is described as being 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds.
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office confirms Makel F. Jones, 19, of the 2000 block of Bolt Drive, was shot at least one time and transported to Wellstar MCG hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:37 a.m.
The shooting was reported at 11:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of Bolt Drive.
- Two people were found slain Monday in a burning house in Grovetown.
- One person was hospitalized after a shooting Monday at Diamond Lakes Park.
- Shots were fired Tuesday morning near an Augusta school bus stop, though no one was injured.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Jones, the coroner says.
The shooting is part of an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed more than 150 lives in the past year across the CSRA.
