USC hosts celebration for women’s basketball team after championship win
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The University of South Carolina (USC) announced the welcome home celebration for their women’s basketball team.
The Gamecocks beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 87-75 for their third-ever national championship.
The welcome home celebration was held at Colonial Life Arena on Monday. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the celebration started at 2 p.m.
Fans should enter through the main entrance and sit in sections 101-104 and 115-118.
A replay of the game was shown before the team’s arrival and the team DJ helped “keep the energy high,” USC said.
Selected concession stands were also open.
Free parking were in lots A and B, but the university warned spaces could be tight with classes in session.
Championship parade
The city of Columbia announced they will host a parade on Sunday, April 14, at 2 p.m.
The parade will start on the 1700 block of Main and Laurel streets.
City Manager Teresa Wilson said in a news release that Mayor Daniel Rickenmann and other USC officials will take part in the parade.
