Families gather to watch planes leave after Masters
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - With Masters wrapping up, it’s time for players and patrons to head home, and watching the planes fly out is a nice way to wrap up this exciting week.
The tournament is full of tradition, but some locals find traditions of their own, outside of golf.
“We started coming out here when Elena was 1 year old. We started in 2020 and she just turned four, so now we’re about to have a 3-year-old, so we’ve been coming out ever since,” said the Dungan family.
They came from McCormick to watch planes land and take off.
“They’re just amazed at the planes because we don’t see them in our town, of course this big, just being so small. Well, and not this close either,” they said.
Families sat in the parking lots near Daniel Field to watch all the action and encourage others to be a part of the fun.
“We just enjoy it every year and if nobody has ever experienced it, they definitely should,” said the Dungan family.
Some families were out there for the first time.
“Look, look, look,” said Lacy Pace, to her kids who were excited to watch the planes.
They’re even planning on coming back next year, “We’ll probably come at the beginning when they are coming in I think since the landing seems to be the best part of it so far,” she said.
Creating memories that’ll last a lifetime, “I saw it! I saw it! I saw it!” her son said.
