USC Aiken cuts ribbon on new machine shop

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - On Tuesday, the University of South Carolina Aiken unveiled its new machine shop.
It will become a major element in training engineering students at the college.
It will capstone and applied research projects in engineering and sciences and collaborations with the Savannah River National Laboratory.
“So, we hope this allows us to do a lot of applied research, whether it’s sensors or materials or other electric devices that we could use with our partners across the region,” said Scott McKay, Dean of Sciences and Engineering
The machine shop is located behind Pacer Downs Residence Hall.
