Death of utility worker under investigation in Dearing
DEARING, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - We are learning new details about the death of a utility worker on Friday in Dearing.
According to McDuffie County Coroner Paul Johnson, investigators were on the scene of the 2600 block of Old White Oak Road in Dearing around 5:30 p.m.
The utility worker has been identified as 48-year-old Andrew Francis from Tamarac, Fla.
The coroner’s office says the incident happened at 3:45 p.m.
Officials say Francis was working out of a utility bucket truck while running a cable line.
The cable line was stretched across the road when a ing vehicle on Old White Oak Road became entangled with the cable line, the coroner’s office says.
The coroner office confirms Francis succumbed to his injuries after being pulled out of the utility bucket truck.

Francis was pronounced dead on scene at 4:25 p.m.
The incident is being investigated by Georgia State Patrol and McDuffie County Coroner’s Office.
An autopsy has been scheduled with Crime Lab in Atlanta.
