Taylor Swift disses Kim Kardashian in ‘Tortured Poets Department’ song ‘thanK you aIMee’
(Gray News) - Fans are speculating that Taylor Swift is throwing major shade at Kim Kardashian on her 11th studio album, “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology.”
The 34-year-old superstar often hides “Easter eggs” in her lyrics to reveal secret messages and clues.
In the new song, “thanK you aIMee,” Swifties quickly noticed that the letters K-I-M are capitalized in the title.
Swift sings in the first verse, “When I picture my hometown, there’s a bronze spray-tanned statue of you and a plaque underneath it that threatens to push me down the stairs, at our school.”
“thanK you aIMee,” portrays “Aimee” as a school bully, with the chorus referencing her attacks on Swift, according to PEOPLE.
In the bridge, the singer says, “And so I changed your name and any real defining clues. And one day, your kid comes home singing, a song that only us two is gonna know is about you.”
The song is currently trending on social media with many people sharing their reactions.
One wrote on X, “thanK you aIMee is the gag of the album. Taylor Swift really did that. I’m speechless.”
Another wrote, “MY GOD Taylor Swift went in on Kim Kardashian.”
Swift and Kardashian’s feud dates back to 2016.
Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West included the lyrics, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b-tch famous,” in his song “Famous,” PEOPLE reported.
After releasing the song, he said that the “Shake It Off” singer approved the lyrics.
However, Swift denied being aware of the lyrics.
Following the controversy, Kardashian posted snake emojis and released footage to her Snapchat of an alleged phone call between West and Swift discussing the song.
According to multiple sources, Swift had no idea the call was being recorded, PEOPLE reported.
The megastar singer spoke about her past feud with Kardashian with TIME after being named the 2023 Person of the Year.
In the interview, she explained that the moment and the public’s reaction felt like “a career death” and it took her down psychologically to a place she had never been before.
