HEPHZIBAH, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A gun was found on Hephzibah High School’s campus on Wednesday, according to arrest warrants.

The warrants say Dreshawn Lloyd, 17, brought a black pocket pistol onto the school safety zone of Hephzibah High School at 9 a.m.

Upon smelling marijuana from Lloyd’s backpack, Assistant Principal Frankie Wright conducted a search of Lloyd’s backpack, the arrest warrant says.

According to the warrants, during the search, Wright located the gun in the backpack.

Lloyd was booked into Charles B. Webster Detention Center on Wednesday and charged with weapons in a school building/grounds.

We have requested Lloyd’s mugshot.

We requested the incident report for this case. The Richmond County School System says, “As to the request for incident reports or other documents, the School System notes that the incident is still under investigation. At this time, there is no formal written notification regarding the incident.”

The principal outlines the incident differently in the letter sent home to families.

Principal Chris Nabahe says while students were taking the Georgia Milestones tests, a cell phone began ringing in a book bag. During the search, the gun was found, according to the letter.
