At least 5 people die in weekend traffic accidents across CSRA
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Five people died after traffic accidents across the CSRA over the weekend, according to authorities.
In the latest crash, Deveunte Zavien Calloway, 26, of Augusta, died Sunday after a crash on Old Savannah Road at 13th Avenue in Augusta.

Fear, panic and confusion are only some of the things people were feeling as the Augusta Mall erupted in chaos after a shooting.

He lost control of his vehicle, which crashed into a fence and guardrail and ended up partially submerged in a canal, authorities say.
Fire and emergency medical crews extricated Calloway from the vehicle, the coroner says.
Calloway was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m., according to the coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled.
The fatal crash was the latest of several on CSRA roadways. Other fatal crashes included:
- A moped driver died early Sunday after he slammed into another vehicle in Augusta. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen says 60-year-old Robert Brown, of Augusta, was riding a moped north on Peach Orchard Road when he hit the side of a vehicle turning onto Harold Road. Brown was taken to Wellstar MCG Health hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:05 Sunday, according to Bowen. An autopsy has been scheduled.
- On Saturday, 33-year-old Kevon Parker of Johnston, was pronounced dead of blunt-force injuries suffered in a crash in Aiken County. At 4:05 p.m. Saturday, troopers say, the car carrying Parker crashed on Chinquapin Church Road, half a mile north of Monetta. Troopers said the 2005 Pontiac sedan was traveling south on Chinquapin Church Road when it moved off the road to the right, then moved off the road to the left, where it hit an embankment and then a tree. The coroner said a toxicology analysis is pending.
- Two people were killed in a crash at 3:10 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 78, about six miles outside of Blackville. Troopers say two people were in a 2010 Crown Victoria, heading west on U.S. 78, when the car ran off the right side of the road and overturned multiple times. Both the driver and enger died at the scene. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The names of the driver and enger have not been released.
- A few days earlier on Wednesday, one person died in a Burke County crash on River Road.
