Pair arrested in shooting outside Aiken animal hospital
AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two teens have been arrested in a shooting that injured a woman outside the Hitchcock Animal Hospital on April 23.
The Aiken Department of Public Safety said Rashod Boyd, 19, and Jaylon Sims, 18, were arrested Friday.
Both were charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, assault and battery high and aggravated nature, breach of the peace, aggravated in nature and discharging a weapon into a dwelling, officials say.

Arrest warrants stated Sims and Boyd did commit the offense of discharging a weapon into a dwelling by opening fire on three separate apartments at the 3000 building of the Ashton Apartment Homes in Aiken, causing exterior and interior property damage.
Arrest warrants also state Sims and Boyd committed the offense of aggravated breach of the peace by engaging in an unlawful shooting incident at an apartment complex, in which rounds struck and caused damage to several apartments and vehicles parked in an adjacent parking lot.
Warrants also say Sims and Boyd committed the offense of assault and battery high and aggravated nature by engaging in an unlawful shooting incident at an apartment complex, where a round traveled to the animal hospital’s parking lot and struck a woman, causing bodily harm.

Officers say information from the community was “essential to the investigation that led to the arrests.”
The drama unfolded just before 3:30 p.m. April 23 after a 31-year-old woman left the vet clinic with her dog.
She was putting her dog in her car when witnesses heard four to seven gunshots back to back.
The victim ran back inside, screaming, where staff rendered aid until an ambulance arrived.
