NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Each pitch, bat, inning and game are opportunities for the ball players on the Augusta GreenJackets to grow into the big leaguers they hope to become.

In recent years, GreenJackets alums Spencer Strider, Vaughn Grissom and AJ Smith-Shawver have created the blueprint for making it from SRP Park to Truist Park in Atlanta.

Wynston Swayer is in his first year managing the Jackets, and he says his players approach the game like pros.

Each day can go a long way toward making it to the show.

“To see them put in the time, you know, they perform good things are going to happen, and so we’ve proven if you perform well, they may sign you to an extension. So, I think that’s very rewarding and fulfilling for them to know that, you know? To see guys that were here two to three years ago in the big leagues making a difference for the Atlanta Braves,” said Sawyer.

The Jackets were back at SRP park Friday night for game four of their series against the Charleston RiverDogs.
