Thunder Over Evans brings in a crowd of at least 15,000

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Another Thunder Over Evans is in the books with a music, food, fireworks – all in honor of our military community.

Up to 15,000 were inside Evans Towne Center Park and nearly 10,000 people were outside of the venue to watch the show and celebrate those who have served.

“We deserve to give them as much as we can without them we couldn’t exist and we appreciate them,” Fay Mcnair, who attended the event.

And honor those who have ed recently.

There was more than just vehicles on Doug Barnard Parkway. Angel Benson says she was driving along the parkway, on her way home, when she saw a huge alligator in the road.

“Proud of my daughter here, I’m very proud of her and I’m proud to have her serve our country. And whatever she does in her dreams, I fall behind,” said Sascha Hagerman, who attended the event.

But whether you know someone in the military or not it’s a good way to everything they have done.

“They risk their lives to protect our lives to you know, like, it’s just really brave. I don’t know if I’d be able to see myself doing that. But for the people who do it like I’m definitely grateful, like for my dad, who was in the Navy for so long and definitely thankful to him,” said Silas Hurd, who attended the event.

It’s an event that just keeps bringing people back.

“I think just all the people. They’re so friendly and the shows beforehand and all the fireworks. It’s just a really cool experience,” said Ellie Schwanke.

While also saying thank you.

“I do want to say thank you for everybody service who ed the military who is a veteran. This place probably wouldn’t be how it is without them. So thank you for that our country is honored,” said Madison Roberts, who attended the event.
