1 dead, 1 injured in separate S.C. crashes just hours apart

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - One person died and at least one person was injured in two separate crashes less than 12 hours apart in South Carolina.

At least one person was injured after an accident off of Bettis Academy Road early Monday morning in Aiken, according to authorities.

Aiken County dispatch says they were on the scene of an accident that caused injuries on I-20 westbound mile marker 13 off of Exit 11 at 5:23 a.m.

On the scene, we saw a flipped vehicle and three emergency vehicles at 5:42 a.m.

According to South Carolina Highway Department of Transportation, the crash caused minor traffic as of 5:43 a.m.

The scene was cleared around 6:25 a.m. We have reached out to learn more.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Allendale County that left one dead just hours before on Sunday night.

Troopers say, a fatal crash happened at 5 p.m. off Confederate Highway and Miller Swamp Church Road.

They say a 2000 Cadillac was traveling north on Confederate Highway when they drove off the right side of the road and overturned, saying the lone occupant, the driver, died on the scene.
