Armed suspect wanted in stalking, threatening a family in Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who is accused of stalking, harassing and threatening a woman and her family on Wednesday.

Robert “Reht” Hutchinson III is wanted for harassing phone calls, stalking, and terroristic threats and acts for incidents that occurred on 05/16/2024 and 05/21/2024.

The victim stated that her ex-husband has repeatedly called and sent text messages to her stating he was coming to the house with a chainsaw authorities say.

Hutchinson has threatened to take the children away and that she should be scared, according to authorities.

Hutchinson is not allowed to be the kids due to a protection order, the victim told officials.

Authorities say Hutchinson might be under the influence.

The victim stated his behavior might be due to being under the influence, but she was scared and didn’t know what to do, authorities.

When deputies spoke with him on the phone, Hutchinson did not believe they were law enforcement, deputies say.

Warrants are on file and Hutchinson should be considered armed and dangerous. Hutchinson may be driving a silver hatchback 2007 Mercedes Benz R350.
