News 12 honored with 2 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Radio Television Digital News Association announced Region 13 winners of the Edward R. Murrow Awards on Thursday, and News 12 was honored in two categories.

We won in the category of Overall Excellence as well as in the category of Continuing Coverage.

Senior Investigative Reporter Liz Owens’ series “Death of a Young Politician” garnered the Continuing Coverage honor.

The coverage focused on Tyrique Robinson’s life, election to the Richmond County Board of Education, accusations lodged against him by a former mentor, and his death on what was ruled a suicide.

Region 13 includes Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
