AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - No suspect information has been released yet after Richmond County investigators say a man was found dead after a shooting on Kingsgate Drive.

According to Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen, Travis Beard, of Augusta, was shot at least one time and pronounced dead at 5:02 a.m. Wednesday.

At 4:08 a.m., Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the 3700 block of Kingsgate Drive to investigate a report of a shooting with one person injured.

When deputies arrived, they found Beard, had been shot at least one time, authorities say.

He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, according to Bowen.

An autopsy will be scheduled.

The shooting is the latest in an outbreak of violence that’s claimed more than 150 lives across the CSRA in a little over two years.

Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River. But as the largest city in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
