23-year-old man dies after Aiken County shooting
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Investigators are seeking the community’s assistance with any information on a shooting investigation that led to the death of an Aiken man, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday morning.
Richard Carroll, 23, died, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
It’s among the latest incidents in a violent three days for the CSRA. Earlier Saturday morning, a 46-year-old man was fatally shot three days earlier on Kingsgate Drive in Augusta.
Deputies learned of the Aiken County shooting at 2:40 a.m. Saturday.
They were told a Black male had been taken to the emergency room at MCG Wellstar hospital in Augusta with an apparent gunshot wound. He died about 10 minutes before deputies were notified, according to Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables.

A man opened fire into a crowd of people early Saturday morning, according to Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
Preliminary information identified the intersection of Sage Creek Boulevard and Bettis Academy Road as the location where the shooting happened.
Information is limited in this ongoing investigation.
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Augusta University Police Department are assisting with this investigation.

The shooting is among the latest in an outbreak of deadly violence that’s claimed more than 150 lives across the CSRA in a little over two years. The outbreak has affected communities large and small on both sides of the Savannah River.
